Sex On Wheels Part1: A 60's Icon

Some cars are more than objects that get you from "a" to "b" They are works of art and pieces of engineering pefrection. You might think that most modern supercars are sexy and beautiful, but you'd be wrong. A lot of them are striking, yes, but beautiful? I don't think so. Most modern supercars are designed in a wind tunnel. Their streaks and lines are defined by how much downforce or lateral g they will generate when lapping the Nurbugring. The Jaguar E-Type wasn't designed in a wind-tunnel. It wasn't designed to be the fastest car around your local test track. It was designed to be beautiful.
The E-Type was launched at the 1961 Geneva Auto Show to much fanfare.  Enzo Ferrari himself called it "the most beautiful car ever made." Have you ever seen an E-Type up close? It's pure sex. Its curvaceous body is simple and elegant. The E-Type is all style. Just about anyone could jump in it, put on some dark shades and look cool. I remember when I first saw an E-Type. It was a British Racing Green convertible. It pulled into a parking bay, right next to a Gucci store. My god was it beautiful. For a car made in the 60's, it looked modern, sleek and very sexy. Sitting outside Gucci, it almost looked like it belonged there. The E-Type is a fashion icon. People with E-Type's are cool. Which is why just about every Hollywood star brought one when the car launched during the 60's. Frank Sinatra is said to have taken one look at the E-Type and said "I want that car, and I want it now."
Which is exactly how I felt when I saw the E-Type inspired Eagle Speedster. The Eagle Speedster is a modern take on the E-Type. It has a lighter body, a lower windscreen and a lot more power. All of that stuff is irrelevant, because the Eagle Speedster may just be the sexiest car ever made. Jeremy Clarkson went as far as to say that it may be "the sexiest thing he has ever seen." I mean just look at it! The Eagle Speedster is just a sensation. Unfortunately, there is a problem. It's the price. It's even more sensational and fantastical than the car itself. It's half a million pounds. So it's unlikely that we will ever own or let alone see an Eagle Speedster in person. Still, at least we can have this sex on wheels hanging on our wall.
